In its sixth week of operations since its launching in the Greater Santo Domingo, 911 continues to offer its services to the community each time with better results and highly positive ratings as the days go by.


… 87% of users are satisfied with the service they have received.


This was obvious in the satisfaction polls provided by the users. The consolidated data from the first month of operation showed that 87% of users are satisfied with the service they have received.


From the inception of the system last May 30th, 911 has responded to 20,742 emergency situations in which people received immediate attention through the units provided by each of the institutions.


The number of responses by institution is: 49% by the National Police, 26% by the health services, 8% by AMET, 7% by the firefighters, and 10% by the Ministry of Public Works and Communications.


In terms of the type of emergencies that were handled, the leading causes were:


•4,425 responses to physical aggression, corresponding to a 21.4%
•4,379 traffic accidents, corresponding to a 21.2%
•2,742 cases of people in danger, corresponding to a 13.2%
•1,361 were due to domestic violence, corresponding to a 6.6%
•869 cases of theft, corresponding to a 5.8%
•941 fires, corresponding to a 4.5%


In terms of the cases of violence against women, a protocol has been recently agreed upon that will allow the 911 and the Ministry of Women to work together to bring support to any of the cases submitted to the system.


Other good news is that the number of nuisance calls has been considerably diminishing; however, there is still a high traffic of these types of calls that affect the good performance of the system.


The 911 system functions and it operates with qualified men and women and with the appropriate equipment to respond to emergency situations swiftly and professionally.
