  • c) Research and Innovation

One of the core purposes of a university is to foster the creation of new knowledge through scientific, technological, humanistic and social research. A country can raise its standard of living by having highly prepared human resources trained at institutions that are capable of creating knowledge and training visionary professionals who can innovate and design.

It is necessary to integrate teaching and research into a strategy that involves the national and international socioeconomic environment, since the quality of education is directly correlated to the creation of a research culture. The foundation of modern university education is that the student must acquire the spirit of scientific research that stimulates critical thinking and creativity.

In addition to the projects that each institution of higher education carries out, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology has taken steps aimed at strengthening the science and technology system, including the creation of FONDOCYT, which allows the Ministry to request and offer support for the evaluation of research proposals in the area of science, technology and innovation.
