The Dominican Republic Announces Inter-Active “Pop-Up” Exhibit to Promote North Coast City of Puerto Plata

Santo Domingo, May 14, 2019 – The Ministry of Tourism of the Dominican Republic recently announced the opening of the POP Funhouse Exhibit – using the “pop-up or emerging window” format – in various U.S. cities to promote the spectacular beauty of the country’s north coast city of Puerto Plata.

The exhibit will officially open May 16 in Miami, Florida. The exhibit will then continue on to Boston, on June 10, as explained by Magaly Toribio, Marketing Advisor for the country’s Ministry of Tourism.
The free exhibit will encourage visitors to participate in an inter-active experience where they will also have the opportunity to win all-inclusive travel packages to this beautiful region, situated in the Dominican Republic’s scenic north coast.
“We understand that today’s travelers are looking for authentic places to visit during their vacations. They want to discover new destinations, places that will offer them a wide variety of options, including adventure tourism and the possibility of getting to know the local culture,” explained Ms. Toribio.
She also stated that Puerto Plata offers all this and much more, which is why the tourism sector wants to promote a fun and attractive activity that will help promote one of the most beautiful cities in the D.R.
In the POP Funhouse visitors will enjoy eight exhibits that will feature Puerto Plata’s most important attractions. Some of the themes exhibited are Puerto Plata’s iconic Victorian homes, kite surfing, the city’s impressive cable car ride through the mountains, the Amber Museum, as well as an exhibit titled “A World of Waterfalls.” Also featured are the city’s art murals and the traditional “colmados,” or neighborhood grocery stores.

Contest Rules and Dates

In each city where the free exhibit will be featured organizers have included a fun contest that will consist of encouraging visitors to take photographs of themselves in their favorite exhibit and publish it in Instagram under the title @GoDomRep and using the hash tag #POPFunhouse. This is the opportunity for visitors to win an all-inclusive trip for two to Puerto Plata.
Access to the exhibit closes 45 minutes before the scheduled closing time.
The following is the exhibit schedule: Wynwood Soho Studios; Miami, FL, (May 16-18); Sterling Bay; Chicago, IL, (May 24-26); West Edge, at the Chelsea Market, NYC (May 31-June 2); and in Cyclorama, in Boston’s Art Center (June 8-10).
