Under the slogan UNA VF: “Hay más alegría en dar, que en recibir,” several American institutions made donations of clothes, shoes, medicines, and medical assistance to the bateys residents of the La Higuera community in El Seibo.

The event, a corporate social responsibility activity of the VF multinational company, the Sun Jade group, and the Dress A Girl Around The World NGO of the United States, helped more than a thousand children who received medical attention and medical consultations in ophthalmology, skin diseases and general medicine, as well as medicines donated by the Ministry of Public Health, Franco & Accra, and the HOMS Foundation, according to a press release.

The event, in which partners of the VF multinational trademarks Timberland, Vans, Lee, and Wrangler took part, was held in the Center of the Religious Congregation “Daughters of Mary”. Children, adults of all ages, teachers and the community participated in the event.

Pedro Jiménez, the company’s Manager for Sustainability (CSR), said that the donations and the corporate social responsibility services were offered in the framework of the company’s set of values, which aim to achieve a balance between perception and the “reality that all have, through their brands, a continuous social commitment with the future generations.”

He considered it necessary to promote and support good causes and, “above all, to bring welfare to the needy populations, because this is a contribution to the social contract that all business firms accumulate over time.”

Jiménez said that “the greatest joy was to do the right thing and to give to those who needed it most,” thereby fulfilling the saying “There is more joy in giving than in receiving.”

Consultations and health treatments were delivered by the medical staff working with the health missions that the multinational company in the country, the NGOs and the PMF provide. The entertainment fell under the responsibility of the Payasos “Kanki” events company.

Dress a Girl Around the World (DAG) is an international non-profit company that operates worldwide, carrying out five missions under the family name HOPE 4 WOMAN, offering dresses for girls in third world countries. Its objective is to provide dignity and respect under the belief that when a girl appears to be taken care of and is neatly dressed, she is less likely to be the subject of sexual abuse.
