The II Solo exhibition titled “Designs of Nature,” by Omar Paíno Perdomo, remains open at the “Silvano Lora” Public Workshop Foundation headquarters. The exhibition has the institutional support of L. Debus & Söhne, an international wood processing firm based in Münzenberg, Germany. The author is a pioneer in the use of the Scanning Electron Microscope lens technique in photography in the Dominican Republic.

The Designs of Nature collection includes 24 sepia photographs of overflowing vitality in 14″ x 16″ size, which reveal the ultra structure of an element of the plantae kingdom of endemic species of the island of La Hispaniola: the wood, as it is, line by line, and the sequences of the ornaments it weaves for thousands of years, that the Scanning lens freezes and captures as a seemingly work of stone art, a gift from the mystery of life.

The restless and scrutinizing eyes, the eagle eye, can now get to know the microscopic inside of the structure of the wood, observe how the sculptural tensions of the matter converge in its universe, creating a harmonious presence of signals, of consecrating rhythms of unusual shapes, of superb beauty, which makes it clear that nothing containing expression ceases to be under the aegis of God.

This exceptional exhibition, in the history of the twentieth and early twenty-first centuries Dominican photography, represents a break, a before and an after, in the techniques of photographic art, and reveals that there are still new forms of courting nature and the world, to capture their moments, the movement of their vital energies, unbelievable sequences of existence after which goes the eye, to learn about still undisclosed ceremonies of the creation as an apotheosis that God decides to symbolize in wood in order to reveal the orders He has given to fire, water, air, and earth.

The exhibition is open at the “Silvano Lora” Public Workshop Foundation headquarters, located at Arzobispo Meriño number 104, Colonial City, until October 30, from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Monday through Saturday.
