The multinational company VF-VANS and the SUN JADE group delivered 2,000 pairs of shoes to the international NGO Kids Alive, to be distributed among children of all ages and of limited resources at their schools in Jarabacoa, Constanza and Santo Domingo, in the Dominican Republic.

The donation was made at the get together called “cambiar el caminar viejo por uno nuevo,” which took place at the ANIJA Education Center in Jarabacoa. More than 350 children, teachers and associates of the multinational company VF VANS and the SUN JADE Dominicana group participated in the event.

The exchange of “old for new” shoes took place as part of the social responsibility activities of that company, in which the participants enjoyed clown shows, games, face painting activities, music, and tasted finger foods and snacks, and the children attended classes on how to care for and protect the environment.

In his remarks, Albert Tang, Director of Supplies, stated his satisfaction to be part of this event and to give back, in part, to the community in which we work.”

“VF VANS is a responsible and committed company, and, as a brand closely associated with youth activities, we serve as the perfect connection with this community service event, and we look forward to continue doing so on a regular basis,” said Tang.

In turn, Hui-Jen Lan, Deputy General Manager of SUN JADE, was pleased with the activity, and conveyed his company’s desire to continue supporting these initiatives.

On the other hand, Pedro Jiménez, Manager of Sustainability (RSC), said that donations and services provided under corporate and social responsibility have the VF Company’s values as their framework, “thereby turning into reality the perception that everyone has that their brands actually exemplify their constant commitment with the future generations by promoting and supporting good causes.”

Meanwhile Pablo Cooper, Director of the ANIJA Educational Center, speaking on behalf of the school teachers, voiced their appreciation for the delivery of the footwear.

“The children thought that that day was a joint celebration of their birthdays, all in one day,” said Cooper.

Throughout the day people of all ages gathered at the ANIJA Educational Center in a festive atmosphere during which environmental specialists lectured on caring for the environment and provided energy-saving certified LED light bulbs.
