Singer Pablo Milanés promised a concert that will contain his entire repertoire of songs, including those from his latest album, during an interview with the radio program El Sol de la Mañana, which is broadcasted on radio station 106.5 FM.


Milanés will share the stage with singer and songwriter José Antonio Rodríguez, who announced that he will perform some of the songs from the Cuban artist’s new album.


The interview took place at the end of the special program aired by El Sol de la Mañana on President Danilo Medina’s government’s management of culture, which falls under the responsibility of the Ministry of Culture.


The radio program was led by Euri Cabral, José Laluz, María Elena Núñez, and Yolanda Martínez, and it took place on Thursday and Friday with the participation of Minister Rodríguez, deputy ministers and general directors from various departments.


Milanés began his presentation by recalling his first concert in the Dominican Republic, which took place in 1978 in the auditorium that bears the name of writer Enriquillo Sánchez, located at the headquarters of the Ministry of Culture.


The concert is being sponsored by the MINC with support from Banco de Reservas.


The concert is free and is scheduled for Saturday, August 8, at 7:00 pm, in the square next to the “La Voz del Yuna” building in Bonao. During the radio program, the Cuban singer said that he will come to the stage to interact with his Dominican fans, who live and praise his legendary songs which became a success during the 80s and 90s.


Asked about the songs that will be performed during the concert, Milanés explained that they consist of a series of rhythms, including chachachá, changüí, romantic ballads and mambo.


Also, he cited known songs from his latest production, titled “Renacimiento.” Asked about the country where he has the greatest number of friends, he responded that it is in the Dominican Republic, and among his friends he mentioned his colleague, singer and songwriter José Antonio Rodríguez, who accompanied him during the interview.


The “La Voz del Yuna” replica, which includes a museum, was opened to the public on Saturday, August 1st, in the presence of the President of the Republic, Danilo Medina; the Minister of Culture, José Antonio Rodríguez; and, Félix Nova, Senator from the Monseñor Nouel province
