A program full of artistic and educational activities will be held during the Long Night of Museums Summer 2015 version, to be celebrated on Saturday June 27, in which the public can participate for free.


Among the artistic presentations announced were the Teatro Orquestal Dominicano (TODO), composed of young people with disabilities; the Banda Juvenil of the Escuelas Libres, the Ballet Folklorico Dominicano, the merengue artist India Canela, the soloist Abraham Reyes and Los Boyé. Singer Diomaris La Mala will also participate, as well as a theatrical presentation of a flamenco show and the recreation of historical characters by actors and jugglers, among other activities.


The Ministry of Culture, an institution that organizes the activity through the General Directorate of Museums, run by Ana Maria Conde, informed that attendees can participate in educational workshops on various historical subjects. The doors of the monuments and museums of the capital and other parts in the country will be open to the public from 9:00 a.m., and will remain receiving visitors until 12:30 midnight.


The opening ceremony is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., and the Fortaleza of Santo Domingo, Ciudad Colonial, that will serve as the stage. The Museums that will open to the public are: Alcázar de Colón, Casas Reales, Fortaleza de Santo Domingo, Familia Dominicana, Museo Infantil Trampolín; Centro Cultural de España, Centro Cultural de las Telecomunicaciones, Centro Cultural de la Imagen, Centro Cultural Reservas, Casa de Teatro, Casa de tostado, Palacio Consistorial, Ministerio de Turismo, Plaza María de Toledo and Plaza Reloj del Sol.


Since 2013 every year four long nights of museums are organized, an initiative established by order of the Minister of Culture, Jose Antonio Rodríguez, which has encouraged the access of hundreds of families to enjoy their monuments and additional artistic programs.
