The Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Free Zones Sector Will Explore Business Options with Puerto Rico Santo Domingo, May 25 2015


The Minister of Industry and Trade, José Del Castillo Saviñón and representatives of the Dominican Free Zones industry will participate in the Annual Convention of Puerto Rico Manufacturers, where they will explore various initiatives to strengthen the commercial and productive chain between the two countries.


The following persons will integrate the Dominican delegation, together with the Minister of Industry and Trade: the Executive Director of the National Council of Free Zones, Luisa Fernández, and entrepreneurs Aquiles Bermúdez, Miguel Lama, Eduardo Bogaert, Luis José Bonilla, Raúl Abraham, José Miguel Clase, César Cabral and Fernando Capellán; and the Executive Vice President of ADOZONA, José Manuel Torres.


The group intends to evaluate, together with their Puerto Rican counterparts, various possibilities to strengthen bilateral trade and promote the productive chain with a view to taking advantages of the opportunities that the international markets offer.


Among the Free Zones elements with potential to promote the productive chain between the two countries are textiles, shoes, medical equipment, agribusiness and services.


The Annual Convention of Puerto Rico Manufacturers will be held during the weekend of May 28 to 30 in the city of San Juan, according to a press release from the Dominican Association of Free Zones (ADOZONA) During the Friday afternoon session, the Dominican Minister of Industry and Trade will be the main speaker at the panel on “Competitiveness and Trade Agreements between the Countries of the Region: Strategies, Challenges and Opportunities”.


As part of the program of activities of this Convention of Puerto Rico Manufacturers, several issues of interest to international trade will be addressed and business forums and individual meetings among businessmen from both countries will take place.
