Santo Domingo, May 17 2015

Starting next Tuesday, May 19, the Travesías Restaurant will present its second photographic exhibition, made of images of the Himalayas and captured by Iván Gómez during his journey to the summit of Mount Everest.

Gómez captured moments, landscapes and the expressions of people from Nepal and Kathmandu, his journey at the Himalayas to the base camp, the dangerous Khumbu Icefall, through pictures taken during the first Dominican expedition to climb the highest mountain in the world in May, 2011.

For a while, the walls of the Travesías Restaurant will be converted in an art gallery where amateur photographers of landscapes, characters and other elements, will have a space to set up their exhibits.

Each month, the restaurant presents an exhibit, and the proceeds from the sale of the photographs go to “Las productivas”, a group of women who produce cocoa in Yamasá.

Iván Gómez is a motivational speaker, a professional mountaineer, an adventurer and lover of life. In 2011 he became one of the first Dominicans to reach the summit of Mount Everest as a member of the “Excelsior” expedition, and in July, 2012, he became the only Dominican who has climbed the highest mountains of the five inhabited continents in the planet.
