Santo Domingo, 20 de Abril de 2015

During the 12 days that the 18th Santo Domingo International Book Fair 2015 will take place, the Ministry of Culture and the Directorate of the Book Fair, will pay tribute to 10 writers and honor La Trinitaria Bookstore by dedicating to them one of the streets in the fairgrounds; the streets are located in the Plaza de la Cultura Juan Pablo Duarte.

As it has become customary, this year the traditional FILRD2015 streets dedication pays tribute to ten renowned Dominican intellectuals who have excelled in various aspects of literature, elevating the national literature through their writing.

The fairground streets in the Plaza de la Cultura Juan Pablo Duarte, have been identified with the names of the following writers: Clodomiro Moquete, Franklin Domínguez, Ylonka Nacidit Perdomo, Monseñor Freddy Bretón, Manuel Llibre Otero, Miguel Antonio Jiménez, Milcíades Díaz Santil, Rubén Sánchez Feliz, Marivell Contreras and Euri Cabral.

“Espigas maduras” kicks off the first set of presentations, and is not competing for a prize.

These figures will be recognized for their contributions to the development and enrichment of the bibliographic repertory of the nation. Yaniris Espinal is in charge of the coordination of this space.

Every day, starting on the second day of the book celebration, the Minister of Culture, José Antonio Rodríguez, will lead the ceremony of dedication to the honorees. He will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry, family and friends of the honorees, and students from schools around the country, and the general public.

The ceremony begins with the singing of the National Anthem. This is followed by the reading of the honoree’s biography, the unveiling of the street sign and the delivery of a certificate of recognition.
