American Eagle Begins Flights Between Samaná and San Juan, Puerto Rico

American Eagle, the Tourism Promotion Office of the Dominican Republic in Puerto Rico and the Dominican Airports 21st Century (AERODOM) inaugurated the San Juan, Puerto Rico – Samaná route with the arrival of Flight number AE 5046. Starting this week, the flight will be operated daily from the El Catey International Airport in Samaná.

“Our clients in the Dominican Republic were asking for this service. Samaná is a destination with extraordinary potential and this will encourage development in the region and will be an impetus for the local economy,” said Rafael Sánchez, director general of the airline company.

According to a memo from the airline company and the Secretary of Tourism, the flight was welcomed in the Catey terminal by Miguel Bezi, undersecretary for Tourism in Samaná. He was accompanied by Cosette García, director of the Tourism Promotion Office of the Dominican Republic in Puerto Rico; Enrique Pacheco, director of the airport terminal; Mitoel Rosa of American Eagle and Ivette Negrón, sales manager of the airline.

Mitoel Rosa, regional manager of American Eagle, said that for American Eagle “it is an honor to be a part of history in the making for Samaná and rest assured that this inauguration is just the first step in a continuous process of tourism development for the region.”

Miguel Bezi, undersecretary for Tourism in Samaná, welcomed the airline, saying “for us, this is like a dream come true.”
