Miami, FL.- The Tourism Bureau and the Dominican Republic Consulate in Miami will present a solo exhibition of the recent works by renowned Dominican sculptor and painter Oscar Abreu, during the third edition of the “Miami River Art Fair” (MRAF).
Abreu’s exhibition will open with a special reception on December 4th, at 6:00 pm, at the Downtown Miami Convention Center, located within the James L. Knight International Center.
A variety of paintings and sculptures of the Dominican artist will be among the works on display (stand J1). The works explore various aspects of human behavior, such as the vulnerability of human beings with respect to their outside world and the evolution of memory.
“In my work I try to represent the many aspects and nuances of a unique human emotion. I explore many different emotional states of mind. I am particularly interested in the internal struggle of modern humans. I think that the natural chaos of everyday life and the human struggle for survival within that chaos is an essential part of the human evolution”, says Abreu.
According to the famous painter and sculptor, his ideas are presented through the use of textures, stains and scratches on the surface of the canvas to create emotion and meaning. Abreu defines his own art as “a personal benchmark of memories and experiences with which he tries to wake up a state of social consciousness in the viewer, amid this hectic era of globalization”.
Meanwhile, according to the Director of the Tourism Bureau of the Dominican Republic in Miami, Wendy Justo, the exhibition of the work by the renowned Dominican artist is part of the promotional strategy to show that “our country has an artistic and cultural wealth with the likes of Oscar Abreu, and that, as a tourism destination, we go beyond the sun and the beach… we have it all”, said the officer. The exhibition will take place from December 4th to December 7th at the Miami Convention Center located within the James L. Knight International Center.
