36 countries confirm their participation in Grito de Mujer 2015

The Women Poets International (MPI) Inc. Movement in the Dominican Republic, announces the first list of participating countries that have confirmed to date their attendance to the next 2015 Woman Scream International Poetry Festival (in March), where male and female poets get together to honor women and to bring a message of non-violence through a variety of cultural expressions. The festival takes place in November to celebrate the anniversary of both projects and to commemorate the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. The 2015 Woman Scream has a special dedication to the Mirabal sisters (The Butterflies), and it will be held under the slogan “Women of Light” in their honor.

Hundreds of institutions, literary groups, poets and artists participate in the Woman Scream global series, in their respective cities, consolidating a series of simultaneous events that takes place between March 1st and March 31st (over a hundred events). The countries that are already part of the list, which is expected to grow in the coming months, are: the Dominican Republic (SEE), Puerto Rico, Argentina, Spain, Mexico, the Unites States, Canada, Colombia, Nicaragua, Venezuela, Costa Rica, Honduras, Panama, Chile, Peru, Bolivia, Guatemala, Haiti, Curacao, Portugal, Brazil, Italy, France, Greece, Morocco, United Kingdom, Luxembourg, Australia, Georgia, Kosovo, Russia, South Africa, Tanzania, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, and India.

Among the activities that are to be part of the celebration of the Fifth Anniversary of Woman Scream and the 6th Anniversary of the MPI movement is the launching of the Anthology of Woman Scream, a 440-page volume in which 243 women poets from 20 countries participate with poems alluding to what represents a real scream.
