Culture will present the Annual Literary Awards 2013
The Ministry of Culture, through the Department of Literary Management, will present the Annual Literary Awards corresponding to the year 2013 on Monday, December 3rd, at 8:00 pm in the Juan Bosch auditorium of the Pedro Henríquez Ureña National Library.
An artistic presentation will take place before the event and Culture Minister José Antonio Rodríguez will offer the welcoming remarks. Then, poet and National Literary Awardee Tony Raful will speak on behalf of the winners of this annual competition. Raful is the winner of the National History Award in the research and interpretation modalities.
The award winning authors were: Ramón Tejeda Read in short story; Pablo Mella, Miguel Ángel Fornerín and Andrés Merejo, in essay; Franklin Domínguez, in theater; Tony Raful, María Filomena González and Rafael Molina Morillo, in history; Farah Hallal, in children and youth literature, and Alexis Gómez Rosa, in poetry.
The jury was composed by José Enrique García, Plinio Chahín and Pedro Pablo Fernández, in poetry; Carlos Esteban Deive, Roberto Marcallé Abreu and Bonaparte Gautreau Piñeyro in novel; Aquiles Julián, Andrés L. Mateo and Armando Almánzar, in short story. Also, José del Castillo, Pedro Delgado Malagón and Manuel Matos Moquete, in essay; Juan Carlos Mieses, Iván García and Olivier Batista Lemaire, in theater; and, Héctor Luis Martínez, Filiberto Cruz and Manuel García Arévalo, in history.
Each winner will receive an endowment of 250,000 pesos and an honorable mention certificate, and the winning unpublished entries will be published next year by the Ministry of Culture, through Editora Nacional, as established in the rules of the literary competition.
The call for the next edition of this competition opens on November 17th and closes on January 30th, 2015.
