On Thursday, October 23rd, at 7:00 pm, the Mirador Santo Domingo Cultural Center and the Sebelén Gallery, will open the exhibition titled “Los Enigmas del Morfeo Antillano” (The Enigmas of the Antillean Morfeo) by renowned artist Manuel Nina Cisneros, from San Cristóbal.


The exhibition consists of some 33 works in large and medium formats, using mixed techniques on canvas, some of which are part of private domestic and foreign collections.


Amable López Meléndez, Chief Curator of the Museum of Modern Art, refers to Nina Cisneros as the “creator of one of the newest, attractive and original visual universes available to today’s Dominican painting.”


Among the most striking works in the exhibition are: “Tren sobre rieles despejados” and “Largo amanecer” (2010); “Atemporal”, “Lago Memorial”, “Puerto seguro” (2011) and “Uno que viene, otro que va” (2012).


The curatorial team of “Los Enigmas del Morfeo Antillano” is headed by renowned art critics Amable López Meléndez and Abil Peralta Agüero; Kiara Paniagua, event coordinator; together with gallery owner Ranier Sebelén and Nina Cisneros, who, on this occasion, assumed the responsibility of publishing the first monograph of the artist’s work, which will be introduced during the opening of the exhibition.


Manuel Nina Cisneros was born in San Cristóbal in 1978. In his teens he began his artistic studies in the studio of his cousin, renowned artist Dionisio Blanco, and then expanded his training at the National School of Fine Arts, where he received master classes in drawing, composition, color and material from teachers Marianela Jiménez (1925-2013), Rosa Tavárez, Amable Sterling and Alonso Cuevas.


In 2004, Nina Cisneros has his first solo exhibition at the Museo de las Casas Reales. Since then, his works have been successfully exhibited in numerous group exhibitions in Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, the United States, Europe and Australia.


“Los Enigmas del Morfeo Antillano” will remain open to the public until November 20th, from Monday to Saturday, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, at the Mirador Santo Domingo Cultural Center, located in Ave. José Contreras No. 209, in the Ensanche La Paz.
