The Globe

The Globe’s theater project is headquartered in the London Theater of the same name, which opened its doors in 1997. It was created as a replica of the original space in which Shakespeare’s quintessential plays, such as “Macbeth,” Hamlet,” and “Othello”, were performed.

The original Hall that hosted Shakespeare’s theatrical company, “Lord Chamberlain’s Men,” was constructed in 1599 on the shores of the Thames River and during the XVII century it was destroyed on several occasions due to various causes.

The current Shakespeare’s Globe Theater keeps true to the original antique construction style and is located some 200 meters from the place where it opened its doors for the very first time.

William Shakespeare was an English playwright, poet and actor. He was known as the Bard of Avon and is considered as the most important writer of the English language as well as one of the most famous writers in world literature.

Similar to the original theater company, performances only take place during the summer. However, in contrast to the original, it only has the capacity to hold a total of 1500 people.
