The Minister of Culture, José Antonio Rodríguez, announced that composer and pianist Bullumba Landestoy will return to the country to offer his art to the Dominican pubic and to devote himself to the Christian faith.

Bullumba Landetoy briefly recounted his life, emphasizing how 60 years ago he did not believe in anything and only thought about self-indulgence, having money, beautiful women and great prestige. But, he clarified that “now he has left everything behind to follow Jesus.”

The Minister and songwriter and singer, spoke in the Hall of the Mirrors at the Palace of Fine Arts before the 90 year old artist and Maestros Rafael Solano and Manuel Tejada; “the inimitable impersonator” Julio Zabala; singer Niní Cáffaro; Fernando Casado; and the Deputy Ministers of Culture: Federico Henríquez Gratereaux, Claudio Cohén, and Ediltrudis Picharo (Edilí).

National poet Mateo Morrison; poet Jovine Bermúdez; the Director General of Communications of the Ministry of Culture, Irasema Jiminián; and, Luis O. Bréa Franco, also attended the event.

The official announced with great satisfaction that the issue of providing a respectable pension and housing to the artist, near to a Church, will be resolved shortly, so that he may continue cultivating his faith in Christ.

Later on, the date for a great music show where Landestoy’s work can be showcased will be announced. This presentation will involve various entertainers, and the artist will release some new compositions in which he has been working in recent years. 

Another project includes the production of a CD with all of Bullumba Landestoy’s songs. The artist also announced that he would be involved in talking to youth about the importance of having Christ in their hearts.

It was an enjoyable event in which all the attendees had the opportunity of socializing with and asking questions to the artist, which he promptly answered.

He spoke about his life in Mexico, the United States of America, Puerto Rico, and even offered humorous anecdotes about some of his experiences. He mentioned that in those times Agustín Lara, don Pedro Vargas, Toña La Negra, and other great entertainers that were triumphing in the show business, were the stars on stage.
