Under the slogan, “Let’s play in Peace. Give Gifts of Life,” the Inter-Institutional Teaching for Peace Commission (CIEPAZ), made up of 25 governmental and non-governmental institutions, have launched a campaign to promote the buying and selling of educational toys as Christmas gifts as well as recreational games that do not incite violence.

Senator Francisco Dominguez Brito, founder of CIEPAZ, recalled that in the past nine years the campaign has included the use of TV ads, educational brochures, posters and other activities all with the objective of convincing parents not to give their children toys and games that incite violence.

Aldenia Marte, national coordinator of CIEPAZ, said the campaign also seeks to attract the attention of the authorities and encourage them to create public policies that control the sale of violent war toys. She added that some commercial centers have welcomed the campaign and are supporting it.

CIEPAZ is made up of, among other institutions, the Town Council of the National District, FINJUS, Girls and Boys of Don Bosco, the Juan Montalvo Center, the District Attorney’s Office of the National District, the International RD Plan and World Vision.

Girls from the Popular Dance Group from the María Auxiliadora and Guachupita regions, delighted the public at the campaign launching activity. The girls played The Palace Curtain, The Ronda, Both for Two and The Patio is my House, among other games. Children from this region also participated in baseball and volleyball games. In a children’s show held in the Bonó Center, little kids from these regions and small towns like Gualey, Capotillo and Villa María, were given gifts.
