Three young artists, one Dominican and two Mexican, were invited by the Ministry of Culture to the Auditorium of Casa de Teatro, where they spoke and shared with pleasure their beginnings in music and singing, and their expectations and desire to succeed.

Another young Dominican artist, Janio Lora, interviewed Natalia Lafourcade, Ximena Sariñama and Alex Ferreira. Meanwhile, the Deputy Minister of Culture, Tommy García, made a presentation on “The New Latin American Popular Song (Today)”.

During his brief statement, García commented on the historical art ties between Mexico and the Dominican Republic.

Natalia Lafourcade was the first to speak. She said that her contact with music began as a child, thanks to the influence of her parents, and remembered with love that it was her mother who enrolled her in piano lessons.

She said that her love for music is renewed every day and that she just wants to organize musical notes and to keep loving the art form that has given her so much satisfaction.

She remembered people that have contributed throughout their lives, such as Julia Talegas and Meme, from Café Tacuba, from whom she learned considerably.

Meanwhile, Ximena Sariñama, speaking of her artistic career, explained that both of her parents were musicians and that this art form comes to her through inheritance, as her father was a record collector.

She noted that, although she started as an actress, she was caught in the nets of music. She recalled with tenderness and love some of the artists that influenced her early years.

Ximena said that her songs are about things that happen to people and stories that others tell her.

She stressed that she will be eternally grateful to her teachers who taught her how to create and produce different musical genres. She said that she went through several periods, which included jazz.
For his part, Alex Ferreira said that he came to music through radio and television, which was what he had on hand, and then he became convinced that this was what he wanted to do in life.

Thus, music became a necessity, a great love and passion in his life. He admits that going to Mexico to try to succeed was a crazy thing to do, but he thanks all who have supported his career.

Ferreira has been a publicist and copywriter, and said that all this helped him to grow, but his life and passion is music.
