The objective of this website is to encourage and promote knowledge and the management of the Dominican culture and cultural heritage, through the use of the ICTs.

In addition, students and tourists will be provided with the necessary information about the culture and natural resources of the Dominican Republic, among which are the monuments and heritage sites, especially those listed as world heritage sites.

The Web page www.nuestropatrimonio.gob.do was made public during a ceremony that took place in the Enriquillo Sánchez Auditorium, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Culture. The ceremony was attended by officials of the Ministry of Culture and the Dominican National Commission for UNESCO, as well as by students from various educational centers belonging to the Network of Schools Associated to the United Nations.

This project is perfect for disseminating, among the stakeholders, the necessary written, graphic and audiovisual documentation on the cultural heritage of the country, especially on the tangible and intangible cultural heritage sites with exceptional universal value, such as the Colonial City of Santo Domingo, the Cultural Space of the Brotherhood of the Holy Spirit of the Congos of Villa Mella, and the Dancing Cocolo Theater; the “firsts” of the New World in the Dominican Republic, the journey of persons of African descent, and cultural monuments and natural sites in the country.

The meeting was presided over by Federico Henríquez Grateraux, Vice Minister of Cultural Heritage, and Carlos Santos, Vice Minister of Institutional Development.

The following officials addressed the audience: Architect Nerva Fondeur, Coordinator of the Vice Ministry of Cultural Heritage, and Ms. María Mercedes Brito Feliz, Secretary General of the Dominican National Commission for UNESCO.

The Website was presented by Engineers Jesús Cisneros, Director of Cultural Technology, and Pamela Núñez, responsible for the design and the technical support of the website page.

The motivation and encouragement speech was delivered by Rosa Elena Rodríguez, from the Directorate General of Education and Training of the Ministry of Culture, and the closing speech was delivered by Federico Henríquez Gratereaux, Vice Minister of Cultural Heritage.
