The INDEX International Performance Festival Arrives at the MAM

This Thursday, April 10, from 9:00 o’clock in the morning until 10:00 o’clock in the evening, the Ministry of Culture, through the Museum of Modern Art, will host in the MAM facilities the seventh edition of the INDEX International Performance Festival, which will include participants from the Dominican Republic, Miami and Puerto Rico.

This project, which starts on Thursday, April 10th at the MAM, and will close on April 11th in the Dominican Quinta, is being produced by Edge Zones and will be chaired by Charo Oquet, Director of the Miami Performance International Festival, who for two days will showcase a comprehensive program of artistic events, such as performance art, sound performance, video screenings, workshops and happenings.

Among the participating artists are : +RoN, Lina Aybar, Jenna Balfe, Pip Brant, Anny Concepción, Cubo,  Sebastian Duncan-Portuondo, Sole Fermín, Liz Ferrer, Carla Forte, Jessica Hirst, Eliu Almonte, Sayuri Guzmán, Karlo Ibarra, Brookhard Jounquil, Marilyn Loddi, Alberto Khoury,  Mo(ho)³, Jochi Muñoz, Charo Oquet, Glynn Nash, Alexéi Tellerías, Abril Troncoso, Nancy Vizcaíno, Pioneer Winter, Jay Yapor and Iris Pérez.

INDEX promotes international cultural exchange by increasing dialogue and mutual understanding, and cultivating audiences for contemporary art. Furthermore, it gathers experimental pieces of performance by professionals from three countries that explore current issues and showcase the best and the most bold that Florida and the Caribbean have to offer, in a new international context.

The Museum of Modern Art is open from Tuesday to Sunday, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, and is located on Avenida Pedro Henríquez Ureña, Plaza de la Cultura Juan Pablo Duarte in Santo Domingo.
