“Life and Work of Domingo Moreno Jimenes” will be Addressed at the 2014 FILRD Pre Opening Events

“Vida y obra de Domingo Moreno Jimenes” (Life and work of Domingo Moreno Jimenes) is the title of the conference that is part of the Pre-Opening events of the XVII International Book Fair of Santo Domingo 2014, to be delivered by prominent writer Manuel Mora Serrano.

The activity will be held in the Ramón Oviedo Art Hall, at 7 pm. The event is coordinated by the Directorate General of the Book Fair, of the Ministry of Culture.

This program began in February, with the activity “Poetry Monday”. The FILRD2014 is considered one of the largest in the Caribbean and is organized by the Ministry of Culture, under the leadership of José Antonio Rodríguez.

This year, the literary event is dedicated to Dominican writer and pioneer of Postumismo, aesthetic movement of the early XX century which sought to break with the traditional conception of poetic activity at the time. The theme of the fair this year is: “To read is to be born” and will have Panama as the country guest of honor.

Another issue that will be addressed during the Pre-Opening events is “2014: Year of the centennials, as seen by young writers”, which will take place on Wednesday, April 2nd, at 4:00 pm, in the Orientation Hall of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo, (UASD).

On April 4 – 6, 2014, the Pre-Opening events of the International Book Fair will join the celebration of the V Festival of Storytellers of San Francisco de Macorís, and will move to the Northern Province, to the Dominican Institute of Agricultural Research and Forestry (IDIAF), in Mata Larga.

The activity “Reading the Isthmus: young Dominican writers read Panamanian literature”, will take place on Thursday, April 10th, at 7:00 pm, at the Culture Bookstore.

The Pre-Opening events will end with the presentation of the Program of the XVII International Book Fair of Santo Domingo 2014, on Wednesday, April 22nd, at 7:00 pm, at the Juan Lockward Bar of the Eduardo Brito National Theatre.
