The event, organized by the “Kiwanis of Little Havana” Club, was attended by the Minister of Tourism, Francisco Javier García, together with a delegation of journalists from various Dominican Republic media, important personalities, and both Dominican and United States businessmen.


The Ministry of Tourism of the Dominican Republic (MITUR) participated in the famous “Calle 8 Carnival” of Miami with a stage and a stand to promote the country to the rhythm of merengue, bachata, and urban music.


The event, organized by the “Kiwanis of Little Havana” Club, was attended by the Minister of Tourism, Francisco Javier García, together with a delegation of journalists from various Dominican Republic media, important personalities, and both Dominican and United States businessmen.


The MITUR stage, located at the corner of 17th Avenue and 8th Street (Calle 8), featured artistic attractions such as Johnny Ventura “El Caballo Mayor”, MAFFIO, Henry Santos, Pedrito Fernández, Rigu, Los Zuperiores, 2Nyce, and Conjunto Tropicana, among others.


Other renowned communication personalities of Miami also attended the event, among them DJ’s of “El Zol 106.7FM” radio station, such as Betzy Vázquez “La Gatica”, Zúper Mario, JessiLebelle, and Jammin Johnny Caride.


Meanwhile, in the Dominican Republic’s promotional stand, personnel of the Caribbean country’s Office of Tourism Promotion in Miami, headed by its Director, Wendy Justo, offered information about the country, brochures, and promotional items to visitors of this event.


The “Calle 8 Carnival” of Miami is considered the world’s largest street party, as more than one million people participate in it every year. This year, the 37th edition was dedicated to legendary Cuban singer Celia Cruz.


Tourism is one of the main engines of the Dominican economy, and the current administration of Mr. García has excelled in promoting the country in different niches and market segments, to show the world that the Dominican Republic goes beyond sun and beach, and truly “has it all”.
