Dominican American National Roundtable 10th Anniversary National Conference was celebrated in Miami.


The Dominican American National Roundtable (DANR) celebrated its historic 10th Anniversary National Conference in Miami, Florida. The conference ran through Sunday, December 2 at the Radisson Miami Downtown Hotel. This was the second time that the DANR host its national gathering in Miami and the first time since its inaugural conference in December 1997.


What is unique and special about The DANR National Conference is that it is the ONLY conference in the United States that gathers Dominican and Latino leaders from all over the country for the purpose of national Dominican American empowerment, according a press release from this non-profit organization.


Among the many guest speakers who addressed the DANR 10th Anniversary National Conference include Congressman Charlie Rangel (D-NY), Congressman Lincoln Diaz-Balart (R-FL), Secretary of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Pedro Cortés, Secretary of Health for Puerto Rico Dr. Rosa Pérez Perdomo, and many other great speakers. Merengue legend Johnny Ventura received the DANR Lifetime Achievement Award during the gala dinner on Saturday.


The DANR Conference also featured the critically-acclaimed documentary “Dominican Identity and Migration To Hispaniola”. There also were workshops focusing on economic development, immigration, education, youth empowerment, home ownership, women’s issues, and many more empowering and educational workshops. All conference workshops were free and open to the public..
