Once again, the Dominican Republic, had its usual, prominent, and compelling presence in the Boston Globe Travel Show, an event held annually that is considered one of the most important of the tourism sector in the United States.

The Ministry of Tourism of the Dominican Republic had the most attractive stand of the fair and during the course of the fair the Dominican Republic was the Caribbean destination with the greatest number of reservations made by the public attending this important event.

The tourism activity was held on February 7, 8 and 9, 2014, at the Seaport Convention Center in Boston, MA.

All the major hotels brands of the island, including Be Live Hotels, Natura Eco Resort, Meliá Hotels, VIK Hotels, Princess Hotels, Majestic Hotels, and Sivory Resort, were among the participants at the Dominican Republic’s stand.

A large display of native products took place at the fair, highlighting a toast with Ron Barceló, to the delight of all present. The public also enjoyed a delicious Sancocho Dominicano (a traditional Dominican stew), an exhibition and making of the famous Creole cigars; the public also enjoyed a traditional Chocolate de Agua Dominicano (Chocolate made with water instead of milk), delicacies that satisfied the enthusiastic attendees.

Also noteworthy was the participation and contribution to the success of the event of renowned Dominican craftsman Henry Crisóstomo, with his faceless dolls, cultural symbol of the country, and the other products of his “Neoarte” brand. He conveyed a sample of the quality of our Dominican culture to those present at the event.

Lucien Echavarría, Director of the Office of Tourism of the Dominican Republic in the Northeast Coast of the United States, stressed the following: “We have always played a major role in this and all fairs in which our country is representing; we try to bring the best of our essence and of our land to the public, so that potential travelers can expect to have a memorable vacation.”
She also indicated that “she feels satisfied that participating hotels closed significant deals for their brands during this fair”.

“The Dominican Republic increasingly positions itself stronger in the taste of the traveler, and we will continue making every effort to make more people aware of our beautiful island”, said Mrs. Echavarría.
