El Mesón de la Cava and Lucía, among the 50 Best Restaurants of the Caribbean

Restaurants El Mesón de la Cava, located on Mirador Sur in Santo Domingo, and Lucía in Puerto Plata, are on the list of the top 50 restaurants in the Caribbean in 2013, according to the Caribbean Daily Journal, an online publication.

“It is still a Caribbean classic,” says the website about El Mesón de la Cava, serving delicious dishes for 40 years at its location inside a cave on Avenida Mirador Sur in Santo Domingo. The property serves a variety of dishes, such as seafood and meats, for which the restaurant was awarded the 34th place in the list.

Restaurant Lucía is known for serving a “fusion of Caribbean cuisine,” for which the restaurant won the 44th place in the list. Lucía is part of Casa Colonial in Playa Dorada, Puerto Plata, with “a complete view of a mangrove forest”.

The winner of the first place in the list was the restaurant “At Sea,” located in Bonaire, specializing in seafood. “It is a work of art”, stated the portal. The second place went to restaurant “Yantar” in Puerto Rico. The elements considered for this selection were the food, the service, and the ambience of the various Caribbean restaurants.
