Ylonka Nacidit-Perdomo Will Release Her Book “Dentro del Bosque”

Returning to a publication in conventional book format, Ylonka Nacidit-Perdomo presented on Saturday, January 18th, at 11.00 am, at the “Pedro Mir” Forum of the Cuesta Bookstore, a literary text that integrates twenty soliloquies of overflowing imagination, titled Dentro del Bosque (Santuario Publisher, 2014). As a whole, the book represents an insight on life, a creation in poetic prose that gives reflection the dimension of a counterpoint journey vis-à-vis memories, in which a language of open questioning flows with a complex, intelligent, and vigorous aesthetic.

The book will be analyzed by Dutch-Canadian academic and critic Catherine Vanderplaats Vallejo of Concordia University in Montreal, who introduced Nacidit-Perdomo to the studies of gender literature, in addition to being her mentor when she was an assistant researcher during Vanderplaats’ trips to the Dominican Republic, which started in 1995. These exchanges led our author to venture into creative fiction and the palimpsests of biographical statements.

Laureate writer Jeannette Miller, the 2011 National Literature Prize, will be in charge of presenting the book, as well as evaluating it, encouraging and motivating people to read it and appreciate it, and unveiling its mysteries. Dentro del Bosque includes a special dedication to Dominican actress Sylvia Troncoso (1954-2011), who died in the prime of life, leaving a legacy of love. The dedication reads: “To Sylvia Troncoso, my first reader of Dentro del Bosque, for teaching me that humanity has no unknowns or torches to crystallize destiny’s randomness, and that we should be beyond that existence, that living while dying, as the last display of that nocturnal rendezvous waving the ambush of death; for making me understand that loneliness is a flight of nostalgia, a column amidst the wreck, and that loneliness does not acknowledge itself, only recovers its particular clock, its own credible way of producing wrinkles.”

In Dentro del Bosque Nacidit-Perdomo makes of her listless memories her body of words, the only permissible shelter to feel some sort of bewilderment regarding reality, since, for her, the unknown is the premise of the absence as an ethos; the absence of everything as a starting point for creating memories. She has also said that “writing soliloquies is a way to go deeper, of being led by new meaning, for nature itself to give us options to find that other-self that we carry within ourselves within the plight of life, when forgetting about the origin of the circle of time means the defeat of all illusions.”
