The twenty-eighth International Conference of Women Leaders will be held from November 3-8, 2013, in Israel. This event is being sponsored by the Golda Meir Mount Carmel Training Center (MCTC), the oldest MASHAV training institution, Israel’s Agency for international Cooperation in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in cooperation with the United Nations Program for Development – UNDP, and UN Women.


This conference will be a forum for colleagues from around the world to meet and discuss global issues on today’s agenda in the field of international development, with special emphasis on gender equality and the empowerment of women…


50 women who occupy senior positions in their countries will participate. Among these are the ones representing the Dominican Republic, the Governor of Santiago de los Caballeros, Eng. Aura Toribio, and the Mayor of San Juan de La Maguana, Mrs. Hanói Sánchez, who feel very pleased to have received the invitation from the Ambassador of Israel, Mr. Bahij Mansour, to participate in this event of international significance, where they intend to represent the Dominican Republic well. The meeting will also include representatives from Costa Rica, Romania, Papua New Guinea, Burkina Faso, Samoa, and Mexico, as well as parliamentarians, academics and senior representatives of the United Nations’ agencies and international aid organizations.


This conference will be a forum for colleagues from around the world to meet and discuss global issues on today’s agenda in the field of international development, with special emphasis on gender equality and the empowerment of women, where the next program on sustainable development will be created, and the objectives of the United Nations will be discussed.


The meeting opened on Sunday, November 3rd, at the Krieger Arts Center in Haifa, with a festive ceremony that was attended by the Executive Director of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), Israel’s Minister of Culture and Sports, and the Mayor of Haifa.
