Santo Domingo, September 24, 2013

The Unit for the Sosúa Community Heritage (UMPC Sosúa – Unidad Para Patrimonio Comunitario De Sosúa), will present the third edition of the 2013 Sosúa Multicultural Food Festival, which brings first-class participants with restaurants and cuisines from America, Europe, and Asia. The event, which has become one of the most important in the Northern region, will be held from September 27th to 29th with the support of TURISOPP, MITUR, the Sosúa New Town Hall, Agua Gericó, and Ashoresoca.

The press conference with all the details about this great cultural celebration was held at the Las Flores Park of Sosúa and was led by the Unit for Sosúa Cultural Heritage, the organizer of the event. In addition to the UMPC Sosúa, the conference was attended by representatives of the restaurants participating in the event.

The festival will feature renowned chefs Esperanza Lithgow, in charge of the Department of Gastronomy at the Ministry of Tourism, and Chef Víctor. Both will prepare surprise dishes during the event.

The Mayor, Ilana Neumann, expressed confidence that this third edition of the Multicultural Food Festival will be of great quality and, again, will meet the expectations of the community of Sosúa.

Jessica Martínez, Coordinator of this year’s Festival, encouraged people to “continue to support the largest cultural event of Sosúa, to show not only to the municipal government but to the country, that our people have characteristics of great importance and cultural significance, which promote Sosúa as a destination that is full of culture and taste.”

Adolfo Faringthon, Cultural Coordinator of the UMPC and of the Multicultural Food Festival, presented the cultural activities of the event.
Over 15 restaurants will gather at the Las Flores Park, to offer the public a taste of dishes full of world flavors. All these will be accompanied by cultural events for the whole family and visitors.

Carolina Gómez, responsible for public relations and coordination, stressed that the Sosúa Multicultural Food Festival was founded in 2010 as an initiative of the Unit for Sosúa Community Heritage (UMPC Sosúa), in order to highlight the gastronomy of this municipality, which is influenced by more than fifty nationalities that manage to create gastronomic features not found in any other part of the Dominican Republic.
