The General Directorate of Governmental Ethics and Integrity (DIGEIG in Spanish) on Thursday swore in the Commission on Public Ethics of the Pedro HenríquezUreña Library at a ceremony led by the director general of the ethics and public transparency, Dr. Marino Vinicio Castillo and the Director of the BNPHU, DiomedesNúñezPolanco. The swearing in ceremony was held in the Latin American and Caribbean Hall of the organization.


…will contribute to the strengthening of transparency in the institution and by the same token will promote ethical values as well as monitor for compliance the Ethical Code of Standards.


Mr. Núñez Polanco stressed the importance of reviewing compliance and the correct application of anti-corruption norms and policies in the Dominican state. He also urged members who make up the Commission of Public Ethics (CEP in Spanish) to remain vigilant of the administrative processes involving management and public services. 


Núñez Polanco said he is confident that the swearingin of the commission, as the precept that created it has established, will contribute to the strengthening of transparency in the institution and by the same token will promote ethical values as well as monitor for compliance the Ethical Code of Standards.


Meanwhile, Vinicio Castillo swore in the ethics commission made up of José del Carmen Herrera, Ericka Mariñez, Martin Saldivar, Maribel Nin, Juan Familia, Sabrina Collado, Aníbal Gómez and Miguel Madera.


Castillo recalled that transparency in public governance is a duty and an obligation and that there are strict laws that require proper use of administrative resources such as Laws 200-04 for Free Access to Public Information, Law 340-06 regarding Purchasing Public Contracts and Law 41-08 on Public Service, among others.


Also participating in the meeting was Miguel Suazo, executive director of the DIGEIG, and Rafael Basora, director of the Department of Promotion of Ethics and Integrity of the DIGEIGand its officials and employees of the largest public library in the country.
