At this 6th version of the Healthy Lunch Festival, theBoys and Girls of Don Bosco will perform “El Chavo del 8.” This children’s festival promotes artistic expression through various manifestations in the hope that children will develop in a more healthy and creative fashion.

Artistic expression in children contributes to the creative development of their brain and serves to improve social functioning of teens and young adults. It also helps them face their fears, build up self-esteem and confidence and makes them more sensitive, thus better human beings.

Art is a good strategy for educational purposes in all areas. In early childhood it enhances creative, reflective and critical thought. It is a learning tool that stimulates creativity and innovation.

Another important point the Healthy Lunch program is focusing on is healthy eating habits, as this is vital for the development of healthy adults. Childhood is the most important stage of life as this is a time of constant change and therefore it is essential to consider the importance of eating well. With healthy, well-balanced eating habits, children will enjoy better physical as well as intellectual development.

When it comes to children, healthy eating is a huge challenge because parents do not always have the correct information to get it right and, on occasions, they unknowingly incur bad eating habits.

Maintaining healthy eating habits during childhood is one of the most important factors that contributes to proper growth and development of children. Adopting healthy nutritional habits in children also helps prevent overweight and childhood obesity, chronic malnutrition, growth problems and anemia, among other conditions. A healthy child will be a healthy adult.

As part of the Healthy Lunch program, the Cruz JiminianFoundation will undertake a vaccination campaign; World Vision will do a presentation with support from the Stop Bullying campaign. Prestigious chefs will be on hand to make a variety of healthy meals. There will also be lectures on pet care, advice from nutritionists, raffles, prizes and much more.

The Healthy Lunch Children’s Festival is made possible with support from various public and private institutions, such as the following: Sambil, Banesco, Jugos Petit, Grupo Rojas, Tortillas María, Malta Morena, Royal Prestige by Gregmar Corporation, Cortes Brothers, Baldom, Excelencias & Events. We also enjoy edible support from the following brands: The Laughing Cow, Blue Planet Water, Quaker, Yummies, among others. Our media partners include: Dominican Gourmet, Market TV, PortuDominicana, Gourmet Kitchen, Cicom, Growing up in Family and the Mothers, Mom and Baby Club.

The Healthy Lunch Children’s Festival will hold its grand opening on Saturday August 10 in SambilPlaza, starting at 11:30 a.m. This event it totally free of charge and open to the entire family.
