The recently inaugurated, Diplomat Magazine, which is the first of its kind in the Netherlands, designated the diplomat Dr. Eugenio Matos G. as its Honorary Associate Publisher. Matos is Minister Counsellor and current Economic Attaché for the Dominican Embassy in The Hague.

Diplomat Magazine, a non-profit publication, specializes in diplomatic research and investigation including such topics as international commerce, bilateral and multilateral business affairs, opportunities for foreign investment as well as cultural and tourism diplomacy. Among the founders of the magazine are Ambassadors from Canada, Malta, Bolivia, Japan, Vietnam as well as the head of the Diplomatic Corp in Holland, Ambassador to Nicaragua, His Excellency Carlos Argüello Gómez.


Jozias Aartsen, Honorable Mayor of the Hague, gave the main speech at the inauguration of Diplomat Magazine at a reception at the Carlton Ambassador Hotel which was attended by 43 Ambassadors and 153 Dutch government officials and special guests. “I am very grateful to attend the inauguration of our first Dutch diplomatic magazine with its headquarters in The Hague, the capital of peace and international relations.This fills a huge void for the diplomatic community accredited in this country,” said Mayor Aartsen.


The publication is directed by Dutch Jurist Robert Buurke,with participation from the International Court of Justice, the Carnegie Foundation, University for Peace, University of Leiden, ASSER Institute, Clingendale Center for Diplomatic Research, the University of Malta, London Metropolitan University, The Hague Political Academy, DiploFoundation of Geneva and former members of Parliament, among others. “This will be an additional opportunity to voluntarily contribute essays that promote the interests of the Dominican Republic in Holland and Europe, without overlooking the issue of my academic training and more than 30 years of experience in international law and filling of diplomatic positions. I very much appreciate the support that I received from my boss and Chief of Mission at the Dominican Embassy,” Dominican Minister Dr. Eugenio Matos G., told De Telegraaf, the most important Dutch daily newspaper.
