he cast of musicians in theNational Symphonic Orchestra, directed by maestro José Antonio Molina, captivated the audience at their majestic concert during the 2013 First Altos de Chavón Film Festival.


The cultural artistic event, sponsored by the Ministry of Culture and the Central Romana Corporation, came off asa great success from May 23rd to 26th, with a significant public attendance.


It was an unforgettable night in which the Altos de Chavón Amphitheater was decorated splendidly up and where hundreds of tourists and residents of the community convened for the night.


The organizers defined the event as an artistic manifestation in honor of mothers, as well as an artistic representation that combines art and Dominican culture.

The public enjoyed a musical repertoire which included works such as“AberturaYaya” and “Fantasía Merengue” written by maestro José Antonio Molina.


During these two pieces, Molina proved his skill and potential as a maestro and composer.


From beginning to end, maestro Molina directed the orchestra with its reputable cast of talented musicians, skilled in string, wind and percussion instruments.


As a debut in the orchestra, it’s worth noting the participation of violinist Charle Rafael FermínFernández, who pleased the public with “Selections from the Four Seasons” by Antonio Vivaldi (1678-1741).


At the end of his solo, the young violinist,Charle Rafael FermínFernández, a student of music at the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo, was formally introduced to the audience by maestro José Antonio Molina.


During “Fantasía Merengue,” Molina played a selection of songs with a merengue beat.


The audience also enjoyed legendary musical classics such as “Selections from the Four Seasons” and “Porgy and Bess Opera Suite” by George Gershwin (1898-1937).
