Minister welcomes free Metro transportation for students attending the Book Fair

The Minister of Education, Josefina Pimentel, hailed the measure, which, following a directive from President Danilo Medina, was implemented by the Office for the Reorganization of Transit (OPRET – Oficinapara el Reordenamiento del Tránsito) to provide free transportation in the two metro lines to the students attending the XVI International Book Fair Santo Domingo 2013.

Minister Pimentel called upon the students and teachers to attend en masse the International Book Fair, which is taking place at the Plaza de la Cultura, between April 22nd and May 5th.

The OPRET reported that all students appearing in uniform and with a teacher as guide can board any of the two lines of the Metro of Santo Domingo, which will transport them free of charge.

The Deputy Director of the OPRET, Leonel Carrasco, pointed out that President Medina has directed that students be guided to the Book Fair by security agents stationed at the Metro, and that they can return free of charge by the same means of transportation.
