• “Empowerment of Women in Democracies of Developing Countries: The Experience of the Dominican Republic” by Rosa Rita Alvarez, Executive Director of Dominican Women in Development, Inc. (MUDE).

The book delves into the situation of women in the Dominican Republic in terms of their progress, achievements and challenges to reach gender equality, get access to decision-making procedures, improve health care and security issues, and advance economic integration.

Pérez, Geo Ripley, José Luis Sáez, Avelino Stanley and Darío Solano, and international authors, such as Delia Blanco, Patrick Bellegarde-Smith, Jean Ghasmann Bissainthe, Melina Pappademos and Roger Toumson.

•  “Retos de la educacion a distancia” features Dr. Heitor Gurgulino de Souza’s speech given at the opening of “Virtual Educa Caribe 2011.” This international meeting brings together NGOs, the public and private sectors to discuss educational and professional training issues with the aim to promote innovations amongst the Dominican labor force.

This volume compiled by Yosmayra E. Reyes is a result of the long research process conducted by her under the supervision of Dr. Alberto Fiallo Billini, Public Health Advisor to the former President of the Dominican Republic, Dr. Leonel Frenández.
