The third edition of the International Poetry Festival “Grito de Mujer (Woman Scream),” organized from our country by the Women Poets International Movement (MPI), takes place in over 30 countries worldwide. Over 90 different activities make up the Festival, which is taking place between March 1stand March 31st, 2013,to honor women. Its social mission is to transmit messages of self-esteem, respect, and zero tolerance for violence through poetry and art. On Saturday, March 16, 2013, at 4:00 pm in the Aida Bonelly Cultural Hall of the National Theatre, and as part of the international chain of events, the Dominican chapter, which coordinates thisunique festival, will host a poetry recital called ¡Mujeres en Grande!, which will pay tribute to a special selection of some 30 women poets throughout history, who have bequeathed their poetic scream to the world, thereby becoming GRANDES (the greatest) of all times.


Woman Scream: “Mujeres en Grande” will be a women’s event, dedicated to women. The admission is free of charge. There will be a cocktail, sale of books and souvenirs, and other surprises for those attending the event.


The event will be moderated by Dr. Edward Gautreau de Windt, who will also serve as the master of ceremonies.Over 20 Dominican and foreign women poets from different generations and with unique styles will participate. Poets of the caliber of Jeannette Miller, Ángela Hernández, Dulce Ureña and Ofelia Berridowill make their scream be felt together with the voices of Camelia Michel, Ana Teresa Martínez (SPM), Milady González (Jarabacoa), Jael Uribe (President of the MPI), Berenice Pacheco Salazar, Xiomara García and Nelsy Aldebot (of the Entre Lunas group). The following poets will visit from abroad: Ada Bezos Castilla (Washington); Yenilen Mola (Producer of La Noche de Poesía Erótica [The Night of Erotic Poetry] show (Miami)); Patricia Gabas (Photographer) and Rosa Garde Nicolas (in charge of thewomen’ssection at Amnesty International), both from Malaga, Spain;Mirtha Gonzales Gutiérrez (Cuba); María Palitachi (Dominican, residing in New York).And from the Dominican Republic, the young talents: Jennet Tineo, Natacha Batlle, Denisse Español (La Romana), Rossio Salvador (Higüey), and Darihanna Mesa Florentino (San Cristobal). On behalf of some agencies that favor women’s causes the following poets will participate:Graciela de la Cruz Bourdier (Poet, in charge of Education Ce-Mujer) and lecturer Liset López (former President of Fundación Mariposas de la Luz). The artistic programwill be the responsibility of national and international figures, such as:Adolfina Nava Albarran (Mexican singer);Zaida Pérez from Music By Senora (Nicaraguan Composer of the Grito de Mujer song); the Municipal Ballet of SPM; Susana Silfa (Singer and Producer); Rosairis Clariot (Reciter); and the bellydance by Linda Zaré (Choreographer of Bellydance).

The Woman Scream festival is a non-profit project, created by Dominican writer Jael Uribe, with the support and solidarity of men and women from around the world who are involved in the project. The festival will take place throughout the entire month of March, simultaneously, in several countries around the world. Among the participating countries are: Puerto Rico, Spain, Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, Cuba, Peru, Guatemala, Bolivia, Venezuela, Chile, Panama, Ecuador, Honduras, the United States, Canada, Germany, Russia, Luxembourg, France, Morocco, South Africa, Kosovo, Lesotho, Greece, Antigua and Barbuda, Tanzania, India, Israel, and New Zealand, among others.
