Juan Luis Guerra chosen as the “2007 Person of the Year”

The Latin Recording Academy has announced in a press release that it will honor the Dominican singer and songwriter Juan Luis Guerra as the “2007 Person of the year” in the context of a ceremony that precede the Latin Grammy Awards.

The artist will receive this special recognition at a concert and gala tribute dinner on November 7th at the 8th edition of the Awards in Las Vegas. His professional, cultural and philanthropic achievements have made him the recipient of this award, the Latin Academy stated.
“We are truly privileged to honor such a talented man and remarkable human being”, declared Latin Recording Academy President, Gabriel Abaroa. Mrs. Abaroa also highlighted the artist’s strive for perfection as well as his passion and experience.

The Latin Recording Academy has also honored other Hispanic artists in the past such as the Puerto Rican Ricky Martin, the Mexican Carlos Santana, the Brazilian Gilberto Gil, Mexicans José José y Vicente Fernández the Spanish Julio Iglesias and the Cuban producer and musician Emilio Estefan.

This organization is in charge of producing and organizing the Latin Grammy ceremony, which in this opportunity will take place at Las Vegas’ Mandalay Bay Events Center, on November 8th, 2007.
