Academy will host a roundtable to discuss Juan Pablo Duarte’s youth

The Dominican Academy of Languages and the Ministry of Education invite to a roundtable to discuss Juan Pablo Duarte’s youth. This cultural activity,which will be held on the occasion of the celebration of the bicentennial of the birth of Juan Pablo Duarte, will take place on Tuesday, January 22, 2013, at ten in the morning, at the Academy’s headquarters which are located atCalleMercedes No. 204 in the Colonial City.

Professors Manuel Salvador Gautier and Rafael Peralta Romero will participate in the roundtable discussion.

Juan Pablo Duarte was born on January 26, 1813, in the city of Santo Domingo, and died in Venezuela on July 15, 1876..

Professors Manuel Salvador Gautier and Rafael Peralta Romero will participate in the roundtable discussion. The participation of the Dominican writers is aimed at Dominican youth, especially students, since the figure of Juan Pablo Duarte must serve as a model for the new generations. Some of the objectives of this cultural and educational event were to reflecton and to adoptthe patriotic and humanvalueswhich prompted Duarte to undertake the process of building a free and independent country.

Both, Gautier, Coordinator of the GrupoMester de Narradores de la Academia, as well as Peralta Romero, who is a member of the same group, are renowned Dominican writers who have addressed Duarte’s figure both in literary works and atconferences.

Dr. Bruno Rosario Candelier, Director of the Dominican Academy of Languages, said that this activity is part of a series of events that the Academy will organize to honor Juan Pablo Duarte.
