As a gesture of gratitude towards the Mocaresidents for the support they have provided to the Eighth Regional Book Fair, the Minister of Culture, José Antonio Rodríguez, offered a concert in this city last Friday night.


It is worth noting, that as a sign of posthumous tribute, the Minister remembered two persons who he defined as unforgettable friends: deceased Argentinean singers Facundo Cabral and Leonardo Favio.


Composer and singerJosé AntonioRodríguezagreed to offer the concert as a courtesy, which is the reason why he did not charge the State or any private institution for his performance.


He said that he was doing it as a way of thanking the Mocacitizens and other residents of the northern region of the Dominican Republic for their massive support to theevents taking place during the Cultural Week, which opened on Monday and will endon Sunday,November 18.


Inspired by the artistic expression that Dominican folklore imprints, Rodríguez delighted the audience with beautiful songs, mostly written by him.


Rodríguez was accompanied on stage by violinist Militzalankova and guitarist Luís Carlos.


From the beginning to the end of that that unforgettable night, Rodríguez received with excitement and joy theaudience’s constant outpouring of applause.

Some of the songs performed by the Minister of Culture were:”Dondeestátu,” “Cuandotu no está,” “Igualqueyo,” “Como un bolero,” and “Vive”.


To the beat of the song “Para quererte,” Rodríguez recalled the unforgettable moments when in 1986 this song, interpreted by Maridalia Hernández, won the Viña del Mar Festival.

Rodríguez concluded the showby thanking the general public for allowing him to sing, since he actually had a great desire to do so during the festival.
