Missak Baghboudarian and Rubén González in concert with the National Symphony The National Sympthy Orchestra will hold its fifth concert of the season Wednesday, Oct. 7, with Syrian conductor Missak Baghboudarian and special guest Rubén González, the distinguished Cuban guitarist. “The Aranjuez Concierto,” “The Firebird,” “Cradle Song,” excerpts from “La Forza del Destino,” and “Dance of the Princesses” are some of the works the orchestra will present under the baton of maestro Baghboudarian. The two classical musicians will appear at the Carlos Piantini Hall of the Eduardo Brito National Theatre to perform pieces by Giuseppe Verdi, Joaquín Rodrigo and Igor Stravinsky. “The Aranjuez Concierto,” “The Firebird,” “Cradle Song,” excerpts from “La Forza del Destino,” and “Dance of the Princesses” are some of the works the orchestra will present under the baton of maestro Baghboudarian. Baghboudarian has directed the National Symphony Orchestra of Syria since 2003 after his 1994 debut. He studied orchestra conducting in Italy with Julius Kalmar as well as Handt D. Pascu, M. Beck, Carl St. Clair, Jorma Panula and Riccardo Muti. González was an invited artist at the concert offered by Spanish tenor José Carreras with the Santo Domingo Symphony. He has also been a soloist with the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra, the Oriente Symphony Orchestra and the Municipal Symphony Orchestra of Talca, Chile, among others. The NSO leadership seeks to provide the Dominican population with the best of the classical genre by showcasing talented local musicians each season and demonstrating the development of classical music in the country. | ||
