The general manager of the State Economic Kitchens, Ramón María Rodríguez (Monchy), announced the creation of a “Community Volunteer Network,” a support structure thatwill take community leadershipof municipalities into account.


By participating inthe television program “Marte Piantini Comenta,” which airs onchannel 37 CDN, theofficial said theagencyhas aDepartment ofSupervision that will be inconstant contact withthe community groups”that we are going to form.”


“Volunteers willhavestructuresin all municipalities, to support usin logistics, organization, order and discipline in eachoperation done by the EconomicKitchensinthese municipalities, to ensurethat social programsreachthose in need,” saidMr. Rodriguez.

More over, Rodriguez also notedthe transparency ofthe procurement mechanismby means of competitive bids for thefoodproducts to supply thestate agencyhe heads.


Inthis regard, Rodríguez said that at each year-end, the Economic Kitchen shave active participation in the Christmas programs conducted by the central government for the benefit of neighborhood sand communities across the country.


“We will have to acquire goodsto meet year-endneeds.Atthe end of the year the Economic Kitchens play an important role in the Christmas fiestas, representing the Presidency of the Republic, donating food to the people and bringing holiday celebrations to neighborhood sand communities,” he said.


Rodríguez added that, in addition to the regular socialassistanceprograms, theagencyhas inter-institutional supportprogramssuch asthe Policeand the Army, the Air Force and theNationalCouncilfor the Elderly.


Mr. Rodriguezexplainedthat the rationsorcombosthat are deliveredtothese institutionsand the communitiescontainabout 12products, whose cost on the marketis around850 pesos.


He also pointed out thatthe EconomicKitchenswillgivefood assistanceto 250young peoplewho will be trained bythe Tourist Police(POLITUR).


PresidentMedina’s Actions.The general manager of the State Economic Kitchens, Ramón María Rodríguez (Monchy), said that in these first daysof the government and the decisions that President Danilo Medina has made, the people must be sure that the president will do what he promised in the election campaign.


“Everything that has been done so far has been a campaign promise made by President Medina, and his primary focus is that the protagonist of his government’s public investments is the Dominican people. And from the institution where I am,we have already signaled that our focus is to support the population and the poorest sectors, and each program and public policy that the President is announcing must address improving the qualityof life of the Dominican people.”
