For the third consecutive year, Jarabacoaadornsitself with colors, the aroma of flowers, and withjoy and tradition,during the celebration of the 2012Jarabacoa Flower Festival. This year the Festival will take place from September 21 to the 24, at the Duarte Park inJarabacoa.


Jarabacoa is a place where spring is eternal.It is considered as the hub of the country’s ecological tourist attractions.


During the four-day festival, nature and adventure lovers will enjoy the blessings of Jaracaoba by celebrating this great festival where, along with their families and friends, they will enjoy the flowers and birds displays, the children playgrounds, a painting exhibition and a Poesíapor la Naturaleza poetry reading with the participation of great national poets.


As it has become the tradition, there will be a plaza where handicrafts and local products can be promoted, and where artistic performances, a folk music festival, some cultural expressions and folklore, as well as the children’s parade towards the Muro de la Esperanza (the Wall of Hope) and a big Multicolored Parade that includes carriages and horses will take place.

The Festival de las Flores (the Flowers Festival) is a giftforthe sustainable development of the city, because, in addition to adorning itself with joy and pride, it promotes the advancement of micro-enterprises, strengthens local businesses, promotes culture, and attracts national and international tourism with a spectacle that is unique in the country. Through the flower shows one can experience a sublimeevent full of beauty, creativity, harmony and colors. At the same time it strengthens the spirit of self-reliance and identity of mountain men and women, with equity. And, above all,it aims at raising awareness about the importance of protecting the environment and ofusing natural resources in a balanced manner, in a way that may ensurean ecologically sound, economically viable and socially just sustainable development.
