Collado’s book launch and lecture is scheduled for Saturday September 29, 2012 at 6:45 pm in the Mateo Morrison Hall of the Boricua College campus, Room 403, 4th Floor. Boricua College is at 3755 Broadway Ave. and 156th St. in Manhattan.

The book will be presented by the authoritative writer and psychologist, ClaribelDíaz, author of such poems as “Ser del silencio” (2003) and “Órbita de la inquietud” (2010). Ms. Díaz holds a Masters degree in Social Work from New York University and a Teaching Degree in Literature from the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD), where she received her degree in Psychology in 1989. Her poems, short stories and essays have appeared in magazines and cultural supplements nationally and internationally. She is one of the most highly respected and widely published poets in the Dominican Diaspora. She has lived in New York City since 1996, dividing her time between her writing and her university job of elevating Dominican culture.

Collado will also give an important conference at the Book Fair on the 20th century’s most outstanding Dominican writer: Pedro HenríquezUreña. The title of his conference is, “Pedro HenríquezUreña: As Viewed through Family Memories – An Intra-Historical Focus.” Collado will discuss how each member of this distinguished family – his parents and brothers – evoke the “Master of America,” as the illustrious Argentine, Jorge Luis Borges, called Pedro.

Collado will give his conference on Saturday September 29 at 1:45 to 2:45 pm following the presentation of his book, “La mentiraesunatelaraña.” Writer and theatre expert, Anastasio Jiménez, will act as coordinator of both events.

Miguel Collado has published more than twenty books of different literary genres, including: “Pesadaatmósfera” (1976); “Un encuentropropiciadopor la lluvia” (1987); “Apuntesbibliográficossobre la literaturadominicana” (1993, Winner of the House of the Dominican Writer); “Jánico. Notassobresuhistoria” (1993); “Ideario de Pedro HenríquezUreña” (2002); “Historiabibliográfica de la literaturainfantildominicana” (2003); “Bibliohemerografíahostosiana de autoresdominicanos” (2003); “El fantasma de Trujillo: Antología de cuentossobre el tirano y su Era” (2005); and “Juan Bosch: Maestro de la narrativalatinoamericana” (2009), which is a valuable selection of critical research about the celebrated Dominican writer.

Recently,Collado published a digital edition of his book, “Danilo Medina y la gestión cultural desde el Estado” (2012), which is available online free of charge.

Collado’s books have been, and still are, important sources for research and the study of Dominican literature as well as for university professors and students. Many critics and culture workers – inside and outside the country – have praised his tireless efforts to publicize and disseminate Dominican literature on his own, without the institutional support of the Dominican government.

Currently, Collado is president of CEDIBIL, vice president of the Hostosiana League’s Dominican Republic Chapter, Bibliographic Consultant of the Dominican Academy of Language and an Honorary Member of the Culture Commission of the Foundation for the Development of Jánico, Inc. (FUNDEJANICO in Spanish).

In the opinion of Dominican humanist and winner of the 1996 National Prize for Literature, MarcioVelozMaggiolo, “Miguel Collado is one of the most active intellectuals in our country. He is also an historian, a poet and a very notable bibliographer although his major virtue lies in his diligent investigative powers.”
