Ministry of Labor and UASD Sign Agreement on Employment Promotion

The Ministry of Labor and the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) signed a cooperation agreement to register UASD graduates with the National Employment Service (SENAE in Spanish), so that potential employers can more easily locate the graduates when they are hiring.

Labor Minister, Maritza Hernandez, and UASD Rector, Mateo Aquino Febrillet,joined forces to undertake occupational orientation and job promotion projects that respond to the needs of the local job market.

“The actions we are undertaking seek to fulfill the goals of the government of Danilo Medinain relation not just to generating work but also to orientation of citizens so that companies find the workforce they need,” said Minister Hernández.

The agreement establishes that the Ministry of Labor will be intermediaries and will provide orientation. This will be publicized through their Mobile Kiosks and Territorial Employment Offices, which are located in the main regions around the country.

SENAE will hold group workshops on Occupational Orientation and Motivation for the Self Employed among UASD students and graduates in order to improve their skills in job searching techniques and their knowledge of self-employment.

In addition, the students will be able to get individual job orientation fromin the Territorial Employment Offices (OTE in Spanish). The Labor Ministry will provide a link to connect the Electronic Job Exchange www.empleateya.net with UASD’s main webpage. The University took advantage of this situation to call to on other universities around the country to get them involved and to receive the benefits of the Electronic Job Exchange.
