The state-run Economic Kitchens and the non-profit National Council on Aging (CONAPE in Spanish) will work jointly to develop a nutrition plan for its members all around the country.


Likewise the Economic Kitchens will receive an advisory team from the institution in order to define a plan to be presented to President Danilo Medina, Vice President Margarita Cedeño de Fernández and the Social Cabinet.


Náthali María Hernández, president of CONAPEvisited and spoke to the General Administrator of the state-run Economic Kitchens, Ramón María Rodríguez (Monchy).


The two agencies will work to identify the nutritional needs of the elderly and will work out a budget and concrete actions with the goal of satisfying the food requirements in order to provide better nutrition to this segment of the population.


Mr. Rodríguez said that the elderly who use the centers will be given special treatment. They will be served through a special window and will receive a special ration with nutrients, proteins and minerals that they need on a daily basis. Nathalicommitted to developing a model for special attention for the elderly who regularly frequent the kitchens.


Likewise the Economic Kitchens will receive an advisory team from the institution in order to define a plan to be presented to President Danilo Medina, Vice President Margarita Cedeño de Fernández and the Social Cabinet.


Nátahali stressed that those who work with the elderly are people with a great deal of love and a capacity to share that love, but above all, they are engaging in a noble activity by dedicating their time to the aged.


She added that a great deal of support was givenby Danilo Medinawhen he was Secretary to the Presidency in the government of Dr. LeonelFernández. The result is that there is now a organization that will oversee the work and caregiving to the elderly on the part of the Head of State.


She went on to thank the support provided by the new Administrator of the state-run Economic Kitchens in that he is the first person in the new government to pay them a visit and to show his support and desire to work together.


The Administrator said that for the President, the issue of the elderly is of vital important and that within his policies and plans of action, he intends to help this segment of the population.
