Artistic producers Haffet Saba De Marchena and Joyce Roy, as well as the cast of the musical Godspell,offered details of the mise-en-scenefor September 7 through 9, at 8:30 pm, in the Maximum Avilés Blonda room at the Palace of Fine Arts.

The story of Godspell is based primarily on the Gospel according to St. Matthew and it has been built using a non-traditional plot. Rather, it has been structured based on a series of parables that were preached by Jesus and which are represented using improvisation and contemporary references to illustrate his teachings…

The musical, by John Michael Tebelak and Stephen Schwartz, achieved great success at its premiere andbetween 1973 and 1974 there were about fifteen simultaneous productions that were made. It will now take a new life with performances by a cast consisting of 10 talented young people who will go on scene to offer the best of themselves.

The leading roles in the musical will rest on the shoulders of Juan Luis Espinal, who plays the role of Jesus; Vladimir Rodríguez, in the dual role of John the Baptist and Judas; Claudia González, Jared Gomez, Laura Guzmán, Alejandro Espino, Jocelin González, Rafael Beato , Clara González and Beatriz Santana.It has also been noted that one of the factors that has contributed to the popularity and success of Godspell is its versatility,which allows for the action to take place anywhere,according to the director’s creativity.
