The Vice President convenes meeting with members of the Cabinet Office for the Coordination of Social Policies

The first meeting, which will be chaired by President Danilo Medina Sánchez and the Vice President, Margarita Cedeño de Fernández, will take place on Friday at 10:00 am.

Also, among the attributes of the Cabinet Office for the Coordination of Social Policies, are to identify, address and provide a collegial and effective response to the social demands in the areas related to its scope of action. Additionally, to respond to the President of the Dominican Republic for the behavior of the sector it coordinates and, in particular, for the effectiveness and quality of the budget execution of each of the agencies it comprises.

The Vice President, Dr. Margarita Cedeño de Fernández, in her capacity as Coordinator of the Cabinet Office for the Coordination of Social Policies, has convened all the institutions that make up or that are attached to the Cabinet Office to a first meeting to be chaired by the President, Danilo Medina Sánchez.

The meetingwill be held next Friday, August 31, at 10:00 am, in the Governing Council Roomat the National Palace.  During the meeting,the Strategic Plan Progressing with Solidarity Programwill be presented and discussed.

As the Coordinator of the Cabinet Office for Social Policy, Cedeño de Fernández is responsible for establishing the technical and administrative structure of all the agenciesthat make up the Office and to lead the technical, political and administrative work of each of them.

The Cabinet Office for the Coordination of Social Policies consists of a set of public institutions that have been established by the Executive Branch with the objective of collaborating in the definition, the establishment and the monitoring of the strategic agenda on social policy, as well as to identify and follow-up on the social demands, as well as to recommend preventive measures to address the problems that affect society as a whole.

Also, among the attributes of the Cabinet Office for the Coordination of Social Policies, are to identify, address and provide a collegial and effective response to the social demands in the areas related to its scope of action. Additionally, to respond to the President of the Dominican Republic for the behavior of the sector it coordinates and, in particular, for the effectiveness and quality of the budget execution of each of the agencies it comprises.

Agencies that make up the Cabinet Office

The Cabinet Office for the Coordination of Social Policies comprises the Ministries of the Presidency forAdministration; Planning, Economy and Development; Education; Public Health and Social Welfare;the Ministry of State of Labor; Sports; Physical Education and Recreation; Youth; Women; Culture; Higher Education;and Science and Technology.

The agencies attached to the Cabinet Office for the Coordination of Social Policies are: the National Council on Social Security, the Directorate General of Community Development (DGDC), the Directorate General of Border Development, the National Council for Urban Affairs, the Institute for Assistance and Housing, the Institute for Cooperative Development and Credit (IDECOOP), the National Council for the Disabled (CONADIS), the National Drug Council, the National Council for Children and Adolescents (CONANI) and the Presidential Council on AIDS (COPRESIDA).

Also attached to this office are: the Department of Immigration, the Institute for Price Stabilization, the AffordableDining Halls, the Institute for Technical and Vocational Training (INFOTEP), the Program in Support of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (PROMIPYME), the Essential Drugs Program (PROMESE), the Fund for the Promotion of Community Initiatives, the Presidential Plan to Combat Poverty, the Presidential Commission toSupport the Development of the Provinces, the Presidential Commission to Support the Development of the Neighborhoods, and the General Directorate for a Good Community.

The Progressing with Solidarity Program, the Unique System of Beneficiaries (SIUBEN) and the Administration of Social Grants (ADESS), depend directly from the office of the Vice President.
