DGII employees celebrate the Duarte, Sánchez and Mella Order of Merit,in the Grand Cross with Silver Breast grade, awarded by the executive power to the institution on its 15th anniversary

By Decree 338-12, the President of the Republic bestows the highest honor and the most distinguished meritorious award to the Internal Revenue (DGII for its acronym in Spanish) for its outstanding services during the last eight years.

Through Executive Decree No. 338-12, which makes official the Government’s recognition to the DGII, Dr. Leonel Fernández Reyna highlights the Internal Revenue’s progress, which has made the institution worthy of such high distinction, during the celebration of its 15th anniversary.

This weekend, hundreds of employees of the Directorate General of the Internal Revenue (DGII) celebrated the Duarte, Sánchez and MellaOrder of Merit, in the Grand Cross with Silver Breast grade,awarded by the President of the Republic to the institutionfor its outstanding meritorious services, on the occasion of celebrating the fifteenth anniversary of its foundation.

Gathered at the facilities of the Don Diego Cruise Terminal at the San Souci Port to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the founding of the DGII,the employees applauded the distinction granted at this time by President Fernández, the same head of state who founded the organization through Law No. 166-97, and who later enacted Law No. 227-06 which granted legal status and functional, budgetary, administrative, and technical autonomy,and its own equity instruments,to the Directorate General of the Internal Revenue.

The decision of the Chief Executive highlighted in the first Whereasthat the DGII is the public institution that has demonstrated better technological performance, and has become a reference for other tax administrations in Latin America.

It also stresses that the DGII has succeededinreaching a prominent place in the management of human talent, which has been based on its regulation of the requirements for recruiting, hiring and promoting through competition and which is based solely on merit, becoming the mandatory reference among the public sector.

During the month of July, the DGII has been conducting a series of activities to celebrate its anniversary, and last Saturday, during the traditional Sports Day, over two thousand employees celebrated with joy and gratitude the distinction that the President of the Republic bestowed upon the institution:the Duarte, Sánchez and MellaOrder of Merit, in the Grand Cross with Silver Breast grade.
