Laura Chinchilla held discussions on the possibility of implementing special cooperation programs between the two countries.


The First Lady stated that, together with President-elect Danilo Medina, she will continue working with the Dominican families and to achieve the development of technologies in the Dominican Republic, with the objective of attaining comprehensive human development in the country.


The First Lady and Vice President-elect, Dr. Margarita Cedeño de Fernández, met with the President of Costa Rica, Laura Chinchilla, with whom she discussed the possibility of implementing special cooperation programs between the two countries.


At the meeting, Dr. Cedeño de Fernández also shared with Chinchilla her experiences and the results that have been obtained with the Progresandoprogram, and outlined the programs she plans to keep developing from the Vice President’s office. The aim of these programs is to continue training more women and teens so that they can integrate themselves into the productive work force, thereby beginning to decrease the poverty rates in our country.


The First Lady stated that, together with President-elect Danilo Medina, she will continue working with the Dominican families and to achieve the development of technologies in the Dominican Republic, with the objective of attaining comprehensive human development in the country.


The two of them talked for about 40 minutes and shared ideas on how to start introducing low-income citizens to the world of communication technologies.


Laura Chinchilla congratulated the First Lady for the victory achieved by her party in the past elections and welcomed her election as the Vice President of all Dominicans.


The First Lady and Vice President-elect took part in the Connect Americas Summit2012, an initiative organized by the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), wherePresidents, Ministers, leaders and experts in Information Technology and Communications of the Americas, met. The event took place at the ATLAPA Convention Center in Panama.
